Kabob Bazaar is a casual Persian restaurant with very tasty food. Prices are reasonable and staff are friendly and polite.
For the main dish, kabob is good and there are a variety of other options. Go and order whatever is on special (they change every day); this is where the restaurant truly stands out! Adas polo (rice with lentils and dates served with chicken), estamboli polo (super moist rice with potatoes, green beans and chunks of fork-tender meat), baghali polo with lamb shank (a heaped plate of the yummiest rice with lima beans and a giant lamb shank, meat falling off the bone), dizi sangi (boiled beans and legumes, meat, potato, tomato, onion, and a lot of water) which is offered on weekends, are among the best.
As far as appetizers are concerned, dolmeh is fantastic and served warm —truly delicious. Kashk-o-Bademjan (eggplant and khask —whey-like dairy product) with sweet caramelized onions on top, is amazing. Order the naan, paneer and sabzee which is a basket of fresh herbs, bread, radishes, Persian cheese and walnuts. It will supplement your entire meal.
Olovieyeh sandwich is also good (Persian Chicken salad, wrapped up in delicious bread with tangy pickles). I usually stuff mine full of herbs. Kubideh sandwich is good too. Ash Reshte (thick winter soup) is my winter-time favorite. For dessert, don’t pass on the Persian ice cream or the Persian pastries. It won’t disappoint!
INSIDER TIP: Also, this is not on the menu, but ask for a side of “crunchy rice” topped with one of the daily stews. It’s the rice from the bottom of the pan (the called tah-deeg). It’s excellent!
